Meet Dr. Jo

 
 

Dr. Jonanna Bryant is currently a nurse consultant for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and was an adjunct professor for Immaculata University in the Philadelphia, PA, area. Dr. Bryant is married to Deland L. Bryant.

Dr. Bryant earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of New Rochelle, a Master’s of Science in Biblical Studies from Cairn University (aka Philadelphia Biblical University), a Master’s of Science, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Walden University. Dr. Bryant’s published doctoral project is entitled Characteristics of an informal caregiver: An integrative review.

As a founding board member for Black Nurses Rock from September 2015 to March 2020, Dr. Bryant served as the Director of Research and Development, Director of Chapter Development, and National Secretary. She successfully served as CEO/President of Black Nurses Rock, Philadelphia, the first local chapter organized for Black Nurses Roc Foundation from February 2016 through August 2020.

In 2016, Dr. Bryant started her own company, Nursing with Dr. J. Bryant. As the owner and founder of the company, it was her desire to mentor, lead and to provide a service to her community in a variety of avenues. Dr. Bryant is an international conference speaker. She was a repeat conference speaker for Black Nurses Rock Foundation. 

On October 1, 2020, Dr. Bryant started Professional Black Nurse Alliance, LLC, in the hopes of creating a place and space for nurses to serve vulnerable communities and to build innovative leaders. She served as the President from 2020-2023.

On October 3, 2020, Dr. Bryant successfully published her first book, Walk by Faith not by Sight: Daily Devotions for Nurses. This book is available on Amazon as well as via Kindle. In 2023, Dr. Bryant branched out in healthcare and started Healthy Feet & Reflexology, believing that increasing your quality of life starts with the feet.

Dr. Bryant has been featured on several radios shows such as The Bishop Mary Show, Say So, with Destiny, Hour of Power with Pastor Steve, and The Michele Speaks Show. Dr. Bryant had her own radio show on the internet, Hot 104.5 The Nurses Station, in which her show name was Faith & Facts with Dr. Jo. In addition to her own radio show, she branched out and started her own podcast with the same title found on iTunes, Google Play and Podomatic.

Dr. Bryant has received the following awards, Outstanding Service Award 2016-2018, Black Nurses Rock Foundation, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Award 2018, National Council of Negro Women, Inc., City of Philadelphia Citation 2018 and Black Nurses Rock Leadership Fellowship, 2019.

Dr. Bryant’s life scripture is Esther 4:14 “…For such a time as this.” The Lord has called her to do a mighty work for Him and for the Kingdom of God for such a time as this. She looks forward to serving her community in many different aspects.
